A civilian was killed in unprovoked firing during ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on Friday.

The Army said Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC in Poonch district as it shelled Shahpur and Kerni sectors. Officials said the Army was giving a befitting reply to Pakistan.Security forces had on Thursday busted a terrorist hideout and seized arms and ammunition in Poonch district onThursday.Police, along with the 39 Romeo Force, had launched acordon-and-search operation at Kunaiyan in Poonch and busted the terroristhideout.

Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Angralsaid the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the police, along with RashtriyaRifle troops of the Army, carried out the operation.

"During the search operation, a terrorist hideout wasbusted and a cache of arms and ammunition seized," he said.

One AK 74 rifle, a magazine, a Chinese pistol and a pistolmagazine were seized, the SSP added.

An FIR was registered at the Poonch police station.
